It has only been about 48 hours since I began to implement the 5 Golden Rules to establishing myself as pack leader. I can already see a difference in my dog's behavior! He is much more calm and is beginning to walk better on his leash. All I have done is started to implement Dan's 5 Golden Rules. I have not specifically started addressing problem behaviors, and according to Dan, I may never need to. The 5 Golden Rules often clear up other issues. The program doesn't use force, and I never even need to raise my voice. I am also not handing out treats to the point that I feel like I am bribing my dog.
Pretty soon, I will teach my dog the remaining basic commands (found under the puppy section) that he didn't quite learn as a puppy. It also covers problem behaviors (both in puppies and adult dogs), such a play biting (which is another thing we will be working on very soon- but he hasn't done this in the last 48 hrs.!).
The videos demonstrate very well what you are supposed to do. He doesn't waste your time talking on and on. Most of the videos are 3-10 min. long and stay right on topic. (He also answers commonly asked questions (in writing) below the videos. If something still isn't clear, you have access to a forum to ask questions. I haven't used this feature yet.
At $37/month, I will likely only use it for a little while until I am happy with my dog's behavior. I can see resubscribing, as needed, if problems come up. It is still quite a bit cheaper than even one private training session.
In summary, I would recommend The Online Dog Trainer to a friend.
